Lost in Bilingual

I almost forgot in what language I was writing this blog.

There was always some confusion when I was on instagram regarding which language I should use to comment posts or make stories. Being on an international platform and seeing accounts from all around the world, my first instinct is always to use English. Recently I was thinking that I barely updated the french instagram account I made because let's be honest, it felt like a chore to update TWICE on different accounts and translate everytime the accompanying text. There are some things that I hate to do and posting the same stuff twice at the same time is definitely once of these. However, the chances of my art being noticed internationally being closed to none, I realised that it would be much better to build up a french audience and aim to be noticed by french editors, or at least if being noticed online is a pipe dream, to make it feel like my instagram was a continuity of what I was offering locally. My opportunities to meet artists outside of online is only in the north of France at the moment, maybe Paris and Bruxelles as well. Since I have left every other art platform and instagram is the only place that I cannot seem to be able to leave (after deleting the app ten times and reuploading it every time eventually when I got excited to share something in stories) it would really make sense for me to say "if you want to know more about me, here's what I do" and to have insta as French only.

This is the plan anyway, as I have been unable to post anything consistently on insta since christmas, or really since inktober, I guess I have to really carried out a real plan to make anything out of instagram at the moment. But my artist friends are there and stories are the only way for them to know I am still alive and doing things since somehow no one apart from a couple of very close friends sent me a hello on whatsapp when I didn't post for months. I understand, we are used to have everything on a feed now and we barely notice the accounts that go silent since we follow so many.

Did I tell you I am writing a novel this year? This is another reason why art has taken second place since christmas as well. It was difficult to admit but the posting schedule of webtoon simply did not work for me, so I am writing My fictional boyfriend as a novel instead. There is still hope for Pietro and Haruna to meet their audience, albeit in text only. I am really enjoying the process and it has been a pleasure to let myself take the year to progress and not stress about posting every month and being behind schedule.

However I am writing in French and will aim to send the script to publishers next year, so I should probably switch this blog to being french only as well, right ?
